Certified, validated, trusted.

Improv comedy has grown significantly over the last 35 years in America and as a result more and more performers consider themselves as improvisers of good standing, but with little to no oversight of the quality of their performances or skills.

The AIA Certification process aims to ensure high quality standards of improv training and practice and to offer our members a reputable classification as certified American Improvisers. Since improv theaters and training centers often operate under non-equity theater parameters, the AIA Certification brings a long needed legitimacy to the art form and to performer standards that can be recognized nationally. Without the credibility of an established legacy theater, the burden of improv credibility lies on the improviser and can often create problems on stage or in classrooms.

AIA Certification can help both individual performs and theaters rise above the noise of self-proclaimed gurus and cults of personality and signify to new students, casting directors, creative agencies, and more, that the improviser in question is legitimate and qualified.

Casting agencies, directors, creative agencies, and booking agents now look for the AIA Certification on professional resumes as a gold standard that can help simplify the process of hiring talent for the next "big thing".

In our ever changing political climate, artists are increasingly under attack, and AIA Certification can be a powerful tool in signifying ones legal status as an improviser and American citizen.

Certification is quick, easy, and affordable and should be considered by anyone looking to properly leverage their improv experience in the fast-paced world of entertainment.
